This next section shows all the tinware from a BSA Rocket 3 belonging to serial restorer , Pete Ball. These parts were fundamentally sound in as much as they were not badly corroded and some parts were still wearing their original paint . The rear mudguard had been badly repaired and finding a replacement was proving almost impossible. After some careful cutting, welding and shaping we were able to successfully reclaim the original unit..
These next two photos will give you a “before and after” illustration of what can be achieved
The blue candy that the parts were painted in, had to have a silver metallic base laid on before the blue candy. Under bright sunlight the effect of the candy is quite spectacular compared to ordinary metallics . These were created by the American hot rod scene in the 1950’s and it wasn’t long before people were painting their bikes with candy colours . So, if you were a motorcycle manufacturer and wanted your bikes colour scheme to appeal to the American market ,this was the way to go.
This is the same side panel as pictured earlier, now finished.
